    The fact that the Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool Pretoria (Affies) versus Hoërskool Waterkloof (Klofies) match did not take place for a few years did not dim anyone’s enthusiasm. On the contrary it just seemed to increase everyone’s desire to see this game return so that the schools regarded as the top two in Pretoria had a showdown. Last year’s match was a sort of late addition to the fixture list and had to be slotted in right at the beginning of the season.     A powerful second-half display in which hosts Rondebosch Boys High scored five tries saw them secure what, in the end, was a comfortable win over SACS. The final score was 41-18 to Rondebosch after SACS had led 10-6 at the interval.

    SACS started the better of the two teams and controlled territory and possession for the first half. Rondebosch showed brief glimpses of flair but SACS scored the first try of the game when wing Aidan Deary went over and flyhalf Shane Fourie converted from the corner.   • Kearsney 1st XI Nab Narrow Win Over St Stithians

    After a lengthy period of travelling and various incidents on the road, Kearsney’s 1st XI side took on St Stithians on a chilly Johannesburg evening. The match was played at a hectic pace for the first few minutes with both teams having scoring chances at either end.  

    It was Saints who drew first blood after Kearsney failed to clear the ball out of their circle. The Saints strikers pounced on the ball, giving the Kearsney goalkeeper no chance of keeping the ball out of the net.  Saints looked the more decisive side when on attack and went into the break one goal up.
